Rear one

Property yesterday your program discovered and must say
absolutely strongly. Property then over it one night slept and must
say an important point is missing. It is not possible, if I a listing
with pictures have from these equal Thumbnails to provide and those
more clientcomputer to convey.

In the next step it would be to be integrated perhaps helpfully an
automated packman. Present to me in such a way ungefair. Select
pictures in the overview. Mark. And somewhere luggage a Button
install. Then the whole server-laterally pack and downloaden.

Apology for my bad English. This text translated of a translation

I thought Germans could speak English... 8O

I don't really understand what you are trying to say

If you need, you may e-mail me your text in German and I'll try to make a summary of the suggestions you have in English and post it here.

Not that my German or English is so excellent, but I'm willing to give it a try

sorry Krokette, but automated translations are always bad, and i can't understand the meaning of your message.

i think you asked something about a thumbnails system.

it would be better if Tim translates your german text for you.

from what i gather the german wants to know if you can get his picture files to load as thumbnails rather than file names in the foler lists.

the rest just seems to be saying that he likes the rest of the program.

im also new to the program and realy like it, the only thing i would like to possibly see added is the ability to upload files to the server remotly.

i would like this as i am using it to access my files from college and they block FTP, but you metioned in another post that you were working on it, good luck with that

2. He requested a possibility to mark the files - with a check box or something - and then download the marked files with one button click. ;)

I also wanted to ask the first question of him, means the thumbnail creation for Pictures.

i'm not sure this is possible.
what browser are you using?
doesn't it ask you for every file it is downloaded, yes/no, where to save it, etc etc?
so, is it an automation or just a useless feature ?

What he means is when you have a folder with images in, then you can open en save one image at a time, and what he asks is a system where you have checkboxes before each filename and then can click a Download button and then all the files where the checkbox is checked are downloaded in one time.

But to me it seems better and easyer to just put all your pictures in a zip archive to let the user download it. FilZip http://www.filzip.com is a free zip program I translated into Dutch

yes, i got what he said, but i don't get how to do it.
the browser will always stop downloading and show you a dialog for every file. what you would save is the click on the URL, but you will always have to say "yes" to all files in your browser download dialog.

the only way i see is the ZIP solution, that is someway in the to-do list (but i'm not sure it will ever come).

yes, i got what he said, but i don't get how to do it...

The idea to be able to download several selected files (or at least a single whole directory) is a good and useful idea. I too have no quick solution in mind, but here are some thoughts:

1. when one uses ftp:// in IE - it turns into explorer-like interface and you have a "copy to folder" menu option for selected files. so if you'll  support ftp protocol it will do it for you (bad idea, ahh ? ..., out of the HFS scope ? )

2. I have getright (older version) , I used the "open with getright browser" and in thier file browser you can select several files... It works, BUT - you have to fix bugs in viewing the HFS tree in getright browser (!!!)

3.  you may be able to add your own "download with HFS " menu item in the right clicked IE menu but this involves a special installation by HFS, and maybe - your own browser (too complex... ?)

4. May be add a small Java script that will activate multiple "save as" for the user. He will "select" files/directories and pres a special global button. (or maybe at first put a "save all"  button near every directory name. Not very elegant though... )

That's all I can think of ... at least - #2 works, so maybe it is the simplest way for now.

1. to implement an FTP server is not so quick to do, maybe in the future

2. i will take a look at getright browser

3. HFS does not download anything, what the "download with HFS" command should do?

4. the problem is not to select, the problem is to download one-by-one without human intervention

It was just a though... Maybe somthing similar to "download with GetRight" or IE-ftp's - "copy to folder" .
Opens ONE dialog for the user to point to a local destination dirctory, and then sends it to your own (new...) downloader ...

Same as 3 -
Opens ONE dialog for the user to point to a local destination dirctory, and then, somhow, do multilple-recursive "Save As" or,  optionally, send to GetRight with the info the user entered...   8O

THAT is a downloader
and in facts a downloader can do it, if it is programmed to do it
the problem is to make IE do it, because it is not programmed to do it

HFS is the server, and can't do nothing about it, because it is not on the client computer. the only software it could make you run is javascript, but i don't know how to do something like that in javascript. i fear javascript can't save files on disc, because it would be harmful.

i tested right now with getright 5, and all seems to be ok.
if you have problems anyway, let me know.
