After going over the code a few times this week. I am pretty confident for a release this weekend sometime.
I had some delays due to a couple of serious bugs (browser crashing bugs!). Basically I had to re-write some parts. And it just needed some tightening up, a lot of loose ends. IE6 users now get some basic functionality too, after I changed the way I look at items in the CSS, hard to explain in simple terms but IE6 prefers a more direct approach.
I have also gone all out with the README for a change! I have commented the [file] section of the template too because it is VERY complex in this template. It makes sense if you break it up. Here is the current readme.txt if anyone wants to read it

----- Simple Installation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download the latest beta of HFS here:
http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?board=33.0
Extract the archive so that 'template' and 'Live vX.X.X.tpl' is
beside hfs.exe. Open HFS, go to 'Menu > HTML Template > Change Template'
and select the .tpl file. Once this is successful. Hit the 'Open in
browser' button located on the left side of HFS.
The template is now installed.
In more recent HFS Beta this is no longer required. It should work from
any directory by simply selecting the .tpl file.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Template Settings.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The template has some custom settings.
They are fairly self explanatory. You can locate
them in the very first section of the template
[special:strings].
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Browser Support.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This version of the template uses modern browser features. It works
fine in all standards compliant browsers, however Internet Explorer 6
and below do not support PNG24 images, and some other CSS and JavaScript
features that limit the user experience.
IE7 does work fine, but the Top-Up jQuery plugin next and previous
methods sometimes break and alert an error. This is nothing to worry
about, and there is not much we can do about it.
Basic HFS file operations and navigation are not
disturbed by these issues!
The best solution to get smooth operation, upgrade to
Internet Explorer 8, if you must...
We recommend these browsers for smooth operation:
Mozilla Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/
Opera: http://www.opera.com/
Apple Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Thumbnails.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The template can show the original image squished into a thumbnail, if
you have set this in the template settings, and do not provide a
generated thumbnail for the file to show. The file must also be
accessible.
To generate thumbnails and improve your performance with JPG, JPEG
and PNG images. Use the TPGen, and load in the
'TPGen Preset - Live (v3.0.0+).ini' provided in this archive.
To get the TPGen, download the latest version here:
http://www.rawr-designs.com/projects/tpgen/index.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Custom Icons.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Standard custom icons not enough? You can add custom icons pretty
easily, with this version of the template. Just drop the icon
set, named by extension, into:
/template/theme/images/icons/
If your icons do not work, maybe you are using a different format
(extension) to the default icons, it may be a simple matter of editing
the 'switch' macro in the [file] section of the template.
Make sure you understand what you are changing, and create a backup
before you do make changes!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Media Previews.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Live now supports many media types. Media Previews are represented
by a magnifier icon appearing over the file icon.
Most previews are pretty straight forward, some require a plugin.
We recommend these plugins for smooth operation:
Adobe Flash Player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
DivX Web Player: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/web-player/
Quicktime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Windows Media Player: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Tooltips.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Live template has never been able to display the extra item information
that HFS can provide (such as comments), until now.
We have come up with a tooltip system, it integrates with the current
interface and displays when you hover on items, or the server
information in the footer. You can hover on the tooltip itself to pause
and read the information.
If you do not want tooltips you can turn them off in the
template settings.
HTML markup and Double Quotes are not allowed in the comment field
of Live. A small HFS macro is used to prevent this issue from breaking
the template.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
----- Item Selection.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Item selection has been done in such a way that it tries to mimic an
operating system situation, as if you are holding Ctrl and
selecting items in a folder. You only need to select the background
area of an item to 'select' or 'deselect'.
The 'Select' drop down provides other selection options.
The interface in the top right changes depending on the state of the
folder. Item selection and clicking the associated buttons in the top
right navigation are disabled by default and only become active under
certain conditions.
If Archive is enabled, selected items will activate
the green download button.
If Delete is enabled, selected items will activate
the red delete button.
If Both are enabled, the selected items will activate both buttons.
