Port 7000 changes to port 1000 . . .

I have a (minor) problem that superficially resembles the one described in this thread: topic=6943.0 .  I run HFS on XP Home, SP3.  I use port 7000, forwarded without any difficulty through my router.  Every so often, the port seems to spontaneously change to 1000, breaking accessibility.  I suspect it is related to events, such as temporarily changing from a static internal IP on my LAN to a dynamic one set by DHCP, but though I know that would break accessibility because port forwarding would no longer be directed to the correct IP, I can't see why that should change the port setting on HFS.  As I mentioned, I regard this to be a minor problem, thus far.  It has occurred infrequently, and each time I have fairly quickly identified the incorrect port setting, and reset it.

Thanks for any thoughts or similar accounts you might share.

what HFS version are you using?
what if you quit and restart HFS, does the port change or stays 7000 ?
did you use "self test" feature before the port changed?

Hi . . . Thanks for asking.  I'm using V. 2.2f, build 155.  I probably did use the self-test before noticing the port had changed.  But then when the self-test failed, I would examine the cause and notice the port was incorrect.  Still, I don't associate this issue with the self-test, principally because I have used the self-test many times successfully, and without this symptom.  Best, Richard.

Right.  Sorry.  The problem is infrequent.  It's occurred three or four times now since I began using HFS several months ago -- but all of the times have been relatively recently.  Also, in response to your prompt, I tried shutting it down and re-starting it just now.  It re-started with Port 7000 set properly (in other words, unchanged).  Every computer re-boot re-starts HFS, of course, and the problem doesn't arise that often (I try to re-boot once a day).

it's that i have some memory of a similar problem, linked to the self-test, but cannot find it in the change-log of HFS 2.3

anyway, if i recall correctly, it is fixed in 2.3 (currently in beta)
