HFS really is a handy piece of software.

However, when I tried to use a Win2K machine with HFS 2.2f as HTTP installation source for OpenSuSE 11.0 I ran in trouble for the first time.

Some files don't show up. These files are in the root directory:
gpg-pubkey-0dfb3188-41ed929b.asc
gpg-pubkey-307e3d54-481f30aa.asc
gpg-pubkey-3d25d3d9-36e12d04.asc
gpg-pubkey-7e2e3b05-4816488f.asc
gpg-pubkey-9c800aca-481f343a.asc
gpg-pubkey-a1912208-446a0899.asc

Only these files are shown on the WWW:
gpg-pubkey-0dfb3188-41ed929b.asc
gpg-pubkey-3d25d3d9-36e12d04.asc
gpg-pubkey-a1912208-446a0899.asc

Furthermore, if I open the suse/i586 directory (some 2000 files with longer names), the browser keeps loading forever.

Maybe longer files names pose a problem ?

welcome!

by default system and hidden files are not shown.
you must enable them by Menu > virtual file system

loading forever: the name length is not a problem, but it's hard to say what's your problem. maybe is the loading of files' icon on a CDROM with many files. try disabling "system icons" in HFS.

Thnx for your hints. Disabling "system icons" indeed resolved the "loading forever" issue.

Some files in the root directory of the CD (e.g. gpg-pubkey-307e3d54-481f30aa.asc) still don't show up (system/hidden files are enabled). Strangely enough, if I copy them to the harddisk, they are all shown in the VFS. So it's probably not a pure HFS issue.

Unfortunately not - I tried also another DVD (SuSE 11.1).

Picture 1 shows the DVD's directory in the Windows Explorer, picture 2 shows HFS status window and picture 3 the browser`s output. You'll notice that in pic 2 some of the gpg-pubkey-files are missing and furthermore some files names are not correct. In pic 3 even more files are missing which prevents SuSE from installing when using HFS as installation source.

OK - the issue is solved.

I reused a .vfs-file that I made for the SuSE 10.3 DVD. It seems HFS doesn't save the path to the DVD as I assumed, but all the filenames on the DVD. So it didn't show the new files in the root directory while showing some of the files from the old DVD which are not present any more.

Probably I should have used a real folder instead of a virtual.

Sorry for the confusion - and thnx for providing HFS anyway.
