Hi,

I have got the http server program and i can access the page and files properly. But how do i keep the page always available because when i exit the HFS program the page says "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" but when i start the program again i can access the page. I want to be able to keep the page always accessible.

Thanks.

Hi,

Ok, so now i know i have to keep my computer on all the time so what modes can i put my computer on so the server will still work? Can i put it on standby, lock, log off, sleep. Which of these modes can i use so the file server page is still available.

Thanks. :)

lock - yes
logged off - install HFS as service (search the forums)
standby:

S0 on - fully operational
S1 standby - I think it can still work if your NIC is operational in this mode
S2 suspend - if your NIC is operational and can wake up the system it's possible with a small delay
S3 suspend to RAM - you'd have to wake up your system with a magic packet (Wake-on-LAN), delay before it's operational
S4 hibernation - same as S3, there would be an even longer delay
S5 soft-off - same as S3+S4, but additionally you'd have to wait for the system to boot and start HFS

Actual laptops reduce stepping frecuency and voltages depending on processor load. This will allow to have them on 24/24 in most cases.
Older laptops don't have such features and use more energy-consuming processors and they may overheat.

Check also disk temperature with some utility on long runs.
