Is this a bug or me?

Using v 2.2d build 152.

I have HFS pointed to a real dir on my box where I stick files I want to access from elsewhere. I also have a sub-dir under that where I stick things I don't want others to be able to access. The sub-dir is protected and passworded via HFS so that access is only available to me.

When I connect to my HFS site, I see a "Click Here" (the name of the dir) and a "meonly" under it. If I click on the meonly dir, I am prompted for a UID and password for access. However if I first click on the Click Here dir (which is open) and _then_ on the meonly, it pops right open without any password prompts.

Am I just not understanding how this should work, or...?

as far as i can guess, you put 2 real folders, and that's right, but both in the root, that's wrong.

Indeed, the 2 real folders is the smartest solution, but nested.
I'll try to explain, solution is bottom.
The first actually provide access.
the second will provide access too, yes, but to things that would already be accessible by the first.
Indeed we are adding the second just to tell HFS to protect that specific subfolder (other subfolders will be unprotected, as usual).

so move "meonly" to be inside "clickme" in your virtual file system.
this will likely solve your problem.

You are exactly right, and I now wonder why I didn't think to try this myself.

The protected dir was under the open dir in my real file system, but not so in HFS.
