Feature Request: Email notification for new files

I have some users with a special folder only accessable for them, where I put files to download and they can upload too.

I think of the following feature:
If I put a new file to their special download-folder or they upload a file for me there shoud be an automatically generated Email to the user or to me.

Is this possible to realise in HFS or is there another way to realise it?

I think such a feature would not be used by much users and should not be part of hfs, at most it could be added to an external module.

1. To notify your users automatically, hfs has no email-adresses stored, so it' isn't possible. If you have 'some' users, you could have a standard mail prepared where you can paste the link.

2. Sending a mail about uploads to administrator seems outrageous to me, as looking to the log will be faster than reading mail.

To simplify your task as administrator, you could make your users upload all to the same folder, or use ?recursive to look at the list sorting it by date. So you see what is new.

Well, this would be part of the feature. ;-)
You can't argue that it is not possible because the feature is not realised.

I doubt if browsing through a log-file would be faster. It would even be faster to have look in every upload-folder than have a look at log-files. My mail is checked all the time there is no need to read a mail (meaning studying it for minutes). It is sufficient to see that there is mail by a certain user, maybe filtered to a special folder by the mail-client.

To simplify your task as administrator, you could make your users upload all to the same folder.

I don't want to use the same folder for uploads because the upload ist private and do not want that all users see private uploads from a certain user.

would you be prepared to such effort?
maybe someone may post functions ready to get smtp configuration from outlook and thunderbird, that would help such task.

anyway, the capability of sending emails may be useful for lots of things, i don't even need to plan its usage at this time directly point at how-to-make-it. if it was a template macro you could make your email generator from inside the template

The effort would not be a problem.

I thought of specifying an interval in which HFS should scan the folder, create a trigger that send an email.
I had a look around and found a program that exactly does what I want:

But that is a very powerful program and would be very expensive just to do that little task.

You mean define a log-file only for Uploads?
I had a look around but I can't find how realise this.
