Hi, I've been using this cool program for a long time, thank you for developing it.

I've found out that the Custom IP Address function doesn't work anymore, every time I choose the custom IP address HFS will switch back to external IP address every time it restarts. e.g. I have selected my custom IP address to be xxx.gamerserver.cc then after I've restarted it switches back to an external IP addresss (xx.xxx.xx.xxx).

Also, for the HFS Updater function. This used to work before. Normally, HFS will ask you whether you want to update to the new version or not? and when u click Yes it should download the new version and run command to replace the old version with the new one. However, I've noticed that this function doesn't work anymore. It popups the screen saying that the option "Only 1 instance" have to be selected but I've that option selected already.

Thanks.

both bugs should be already fixed in the last beta (build #096).
what version are you using?

I was using the previous version before 096 and I was having problem downloading 096 version at that time.
However, today it seems to work fine again. Now I'm using 097. Thank you for fixing this bug. ;D

Anyway, I've tested the custom Ip address function in 097. The problem is still the same. Everytime I restart HFS, it will auto select an external IP by itself not the custom IP that I've specified before I have restarted.

Thank you.

i was studying this problem.
it happens to me ONLY IF i enabled "find external address on startup".
if you have this enabled, then disable it.
it is USELESS when you are using a custom ip.
HFS doesn't really need to know the external address to work. it's something for the user, but you are actually not using it because you have your custom address.

Hi,

I've checked my option already, and "find external address on startup" still disabled.

I have tested this with 2 PCs and 1 Notebook at home, using the same configuration and it still doesn't work.

Any idea? Do you want me to send my INI file?
Thank you

Ok, I guess u mean HFS 2.1d (build 88).
Here it is:
Code: [Select]

default: yes

log-server-start=yes
default: no

log-server-stop=yes
default: no

default: no

tray-icon-for-each-download=no
default: yes

save-fingerprints=yes
default: no

default:

default: no

recents=D:\Servers\FileSharing\HFS\sKz.vfs
default:

tray-instead-of-quit=yes
default: no

last-external-address=58.64.123.216
default:

out-total=1334497386
default: 0

in-total=11739843
default: 0

hits-total=28458
default: 0

downloads-total=1479
default: 0

upload-total=4
default: 0

copy-url-on-start=yes
default: no

connections-columns=IP;120|Filename;180|Status;180|Speed;60|Time left;55|%;188|
default: IP;120|Filename;180|Status;180|Speed;60|Time left;55|%;50|

tester-updates=yes

It looks ok to me, but when I restart it, my custom-ip=skzpc.homeip.net changes to custom-ip=MY IP ADDRESS(58.64.123.216)

Ok, I guess u mean HFS 2.1d (build 88).

well, i actually meant the build for testing (now #106)....  but, see
Code: [Select]
find-external-on-startup=yes

but you said
I've checked my option already, and "find external address on startup" still disabled.

so.... double check

Oh well, it's working now.
I'm really sorry Rejetto, I thought checking that option from the program itself will do it. So I've just copied those and pasted them in whitout checking.

After, I've set "find-external-on-startup" to No it seems to work again. However, is this still a bug?
How come HFS still shows that this option is off but it isn't at the first place?
Meaning that HFS, somehow couldn't altered the config when I save my option.

Thank you very much for this great support, Rejetto

that option is working correctly here.
it is saved, removed, etc etc, with no problem.
let me know if you have more problems with it, or if you find a way to reproduce it.

Ok, it seems that it's my bad after all.
I was looking at the wrong section of the option.
I thought it's in IP address option, I misreading it that it should be in Start/Exit option.

Everything seems to be working great at the beginning, I'm sorry tht I took out some of our precious time. T_T
Thank you very much

I'd like to add to this, and also request a possible addition to the program.

So I am experiening this same issue. But I think I have it figured out. As HFS is using an External address to allow external access, and as this external address is provided by my ISP, it is safe to assume that my license will eventually expire and I will get assigned a new IP address from the ISP when I begin using the PC again and become active online. So I think that is what the issue is on my end, and the solution would be to contact my ISP and request they give me a static external IP address. Dunno if any cost is associated to it though.

So here is my workaround / request of Rejetto:
Wouldn't it be sweet if whenever the IP address my ISP provides me expires and my HFS is no longer accessible for this to take place....this is a good idea I think, dunno if it could be done though.

Here's my thought:
So, my IP expires. Great. That sucks.
HFS sends a ping out or something once an hour to maintain activity and thereby grab a good IP from my ISP.
When this happens, HFS sends an email to me at a designated address to indicate that it has a new address and tells me what that address is.
This way, when I am on the road and need access to my files, a quick check of my email will ease up on my downtime.

What do you think? Can that be done?

Why don't you just use dynamic dns? It's examplained in FAQ and documentation. Or make a search on the forum.
