Hello. My first post :P

I've been using HFS for a few days now, and it seriously rocks. (Much better than anything corporate) And I've set up a private server for my friends to use.

But, I can't find a certain feature.

I want to make a folder which everyone can browse in (to see what is there), but not being able to download the contents.

Sorry if this has already been covered, I tried searching, but I'm no good at that :/

Either way, I would love such a feature.

ATM we only have the 'Let browse' feature (restricts browsing, not d/l)

I did request a 'Let download' feature long time ago, dunno what happened to it

Let download is a must for upload folders as well. Sure file filter is good. But people can still download from it if they know the filename. Can be quite hazardous if several people are to share a upload folder, and something private has been uploaded.

Remember: What You See Is What You (Can) Get! or this is part of the protocol.

My workaround to prevent downloading of uploaded files: make the upload folder invisible with the /* command in Menu-folders filter ...box, so only you can access the content. It's a kind of mailbox for you then.
Never tried to guess filename for download. If it is possible, then append a string f.e. %timestamp% on the uploaded file. Should be almost unguessable. BTW. Confidential info thru http? Not a good idea. Just my 2 cents.

Within some hours I hope to have my site up with a new template, then you can get a demo.

I agree.  "Let Download" would be a useful feature.  Maybe rejetto will look into this when he has the time. ;)

If you run it through some ssh server it should be quite secure. So I don't see any problem with sending confidential stuff through it.
