OR you can use the check update feature and let it upgrade by itself ;)
I can see the check, but how does the update work ?

I was trying to use the update feature and everything worked fine until HFS asked me if I want to quit and you know what happened next...  so I can't really tell you if it's working. Just make the next version and we will let you know. :^^:

Hello I just downloaded the BETA but can you please please please change the 'open directly in browser' so that if there is no extensions listed in the box then it will have normal browser behaviour and the browser will open any files it directly can (like it is in 1.6a)

Thankyou

Very strange behaviour:

During the last weeks I worked on a personalized template and updated HFS 2.0 in the mean time. The update to version 30 I did with automatic which worked flawlessly. Because I screwed up the tpl-file, I backuped everything (on drive D:\HFS ...)

With a clean desktop, no HFS.exe or HFS.ini on it, I downloaded version30.zip to desktop, unpacked HFS.exe on desktop, moved the zip to archive and started hfs.exe. But then to my very surprise hfs showed up with my old personalized template and not with the default, as I would have expected. And there was no HFS.ini created anymore on the desktop.
Tried the same with older versions (23 26)  ... but same result.
Bug? Where does get a fresh HFS the old template? How does it know?

Close HFS then Delete hfs.tpl found in the hfs directory.  When you start HFS again the default hfs.tpl will be re-created.

Did it with version 20 and 30. Version 20 creates hfs.ini in the hfs.exe directory and shows up with default tpl.
Did the same with version 30. No hfs.ini created in hfs.exe directory and shows up with my old tpl (which is on drive D:)
Will try and investigate further...
Question: does the fresh hfs beta 30 look somewhere (register)  for a recently used tpl ???

emptied browser caches (Opera & IE), reload, got hfs.ini and hfs.tpl in hfs directory by changing menuoptions and saving them, deleted ini and tpl as suggested, still the same (edited:xx.xx.xx.xx.x)... will try it on a different machine.

Your HFS could have saved the config in the registry. You probably have to clean that for a REAL fresh install: Save-options->clean-options

Thanks Mike and Rafi! I forgot that a fresh HFS saves into the registry by default. I don't like it, but it is as it is & I will never forget  :)
