JO: i was able to do this:
+ unicode encoding for URLs

but there could be further problems, caused by the files loading and by the VFS graphic element. in case you should report me detailed information about these problems if you want to see them fixed.
i would also appreciate a comment if all goes right, because it is impossible to test it for me.

i think we can stop 1.6 developing here
unless we find other bugs
if no bugs are reported in 5-7 days, i will publish it as stable

Ok, I tested rc11, and havent found any stability problems so far. Netscape 7.1 now understands mime types properly, a single file can be uploaded to multiple users at once, and the new logs are awesome. The only problem I noticed was that in the live logs, there was no newline identifier sent when logging. Everything runs together. But with the new live logs, scripting for mIRC, and in the future, CGI will be very easy.

Still the major thing that is keeping this software from hitting my #1 util spot is that there is no way to externally make downloads unique to a particular person/IP. When you serv over 90 GiB of files like I do, you often come across problems over users overbounding their user accounts, and downloading more than you want them to. It is impossible at the moment to automate temporary user accounts, and manage wether they have access to a single externally predefined file, or all of the files. Going through the files one by one, and creating a unique username/pass is more than tedious, and it is impossible to automate the process externally, because I cant; figure out the crc, or whatever check is enstated in the .vfs, so I cant automatically edit the .vfs enabling a specific file, then run hfs, so the user can download that single file. I cant make use of the inverse ban list because once they have access, they can download any number of files they want. I cant externally create/delete user accounts, which really wouldn't matter too much because they would still have access to any file they want before they started downloading it. I can use the logs to determine wether they are downloading a file, and then change the password for the account if there was a way to alter passwords, or accounts, but I still wouldn't be completely satisfied because they could download any file they wanted.

I would like to see either a built in queue system, which is fully customizable on how many people can be queued for download, how many files can a single person queue, how many files can be downloaded in a specified amount of time (mins/hours/days/weeks), how much b/kb/mb a person can use in a specified amount of time(mins/hours/days/weeks). OR the flexibility to create external programs which can manipulate settings from the use of the logs. These kinds of abilities would allow users to take an unpresidented level of control over a public style file server. If the path of flexibility allowing external applications to control these things, most likely a bunch of third party mods would end up appearing.

With that expansion, this utility would no doubt take my #1 favorite spot on my list. I guess I didn't really make that too obvious in my last posts concerning these specific issues.

i think it is not good to include a very complex system in HFS.
interaction with external software (DLL?) will increase in future versions.
