I had been using HFS on XP and it had been fine, after "whitelisting" it on "Spyware Terminator", as it originally blocked it. Useful little program - that is until the .exe vanished! Clicked the short-cut I had made (I had moved it to the programs folder originally) and it couldn't be found. My indexing program couldn't find it either. Downloaded it again and it will not start. Just get the usual .exe warning and click on "run" and nothing else happens. Baffled. Downloaded it from Source Forge and still no go. Just sits there, defying me.

Re. previous post. Looks very much as if Spyware Terminator was responsible for the vanishing .exe. Just tried it all from scratch on my second computer, whilst viewing the downloads folder and the minute I tried to run hfs, it vanished from the folder! However, why can't I over-ride it? It is querying my white-listing as malware. Obviously a false positive but even with it disabled on my main machine, I still can't run hfs.exe.

you need an expert on ST, and it's more likely that you will find it on their website ;)
sorry for not being of any help

Dave here again. Just registered properly. I have just gone back to trying HFS again after not bothering for some time. Even resorted to shutting down virtually everything else running (including security programs), using a program called "EndItAll" and HFS still would not start, even with a fresh download. Just a little hour glass activity and then nothing. This is on both my machines, but I can't think of any common factor, especially as it was going perfectly OK previously. As it's only a stand-alone .exe, what can go wrong? Maddening. It doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas? Does it depend on a service that I might have shut down or any other factors involved? A Windows update? Clutching at straws here. Desperate to get it going again, as I find it so useful when on Messenger to send files, rather than actually send them through Messenger, as it is a tad slow.
