i downloaded the 600kb setup file for HFS and scanned it for viruses via kaspersky.com/scanforvirus and it said "Scanned file:   hfs.exe  - Infected
hfs.exe - infected by not-a-virus:Server-FTP.Win32.SFH.bc"

i clicked the last line of text cuz it was a link but didnt find any useful info. is this file REALLY safe for installing or is kaspersky blowing me smoke?

 ??? hfs has no virus and no troyan horse.

When you use a software as http (or ftp) server, it is at your own risk, it is what kaspersky try to say to you.
If you wish to use hfs safely, assure you to use always a version resulting from this forum.
There is absolutely no risk, you just have to indicate in your antivirus software that hfs is declared as safe. ;)

Says it all. Kaspersky is just telling you that HFS is a Server that could be used by an attacker to compromise the system (open a backdoor). If you downloaded it yourself from here, there's no need to worry at all, as you have full control over it. Just command Kaspersky to shut up.

Win32.SFH  ==> read backwards SFH -> HFS

"infected by not-a-virus"

read carefully what your antivirus says ;)

and, in my opinion, go and blame them for not being clear.

Bah, they don't even know that HFS is not an FTP server.  :P
