req: notify online users

is there a way to notify any pc in my local network if HFS (on my server)has activity :?:
what i try to say is: can HFS send a message like netsend or messengermessage to my workgroup :?:

there is no such feature in HFS.
you should install a monitoring software in every client.

Like rejetto said why not just use a network monitoring tool. I used Alchemy Lab Network Administrators Toolkit v7.1, Active Network Monitor v2.01, and several freeware ones with no problems and can't see the reason to add more overhead by bloating HFS code with such a feature in my opinion. :roll: Some of us have older slower pc .. like mine. :lol: Just use a search engine and type in something like: "free network monitor" and you should find plenty of apps like this. Hope this helps...

actually, a feature like that would not take system resources (1kb?).
it is a matter of usability.
think HFS with 1000 commands. you would not find the one you need.

I did a google search for monitoring software , but they all monitor if server is alive .
I know my server is alive ! , i just like a message when someone visits my page.

How can a monitoringprogram detect that HFS has activity :?:

You could have HFS beep on new connections. It's in the menu.
