  I know, but not all Search Engines respect this scripts.

And fortunately not all users close their site completely: Just google for "HttpFileServer 2.0" : how many gig do you want to find/DL?

First off, that isn't a script but a meta tag.

Any successful searches you found are the result of HFS users that don't know how to protect their site properly.  Who knows, maybe they want their sites indexed to begin with.  (I could actually care less how they run their sites).  My objective here is to inform the people who weren't aware of this and who might find this information helpful.

What I showed you above is supposed to stop "all" search engines from indexing a site.

Awareness  :^:

As we are going offtopic alredy: with Opera it's possible to repeat unseccesful login endlessly, IE gives "Unauthorized" after some false attempts.

you are right, there is a privacy problem in it.
you can't download but can anyway see the filename, and this is not good.
i already fixed it in the next beta, and decided to tell the problem only after the new beta was available.
but i've been busy studying till now.
i will publish soon.

we can search through any search engine for "HttpFileServer 2.0 beta18"
the results are mostly websites by home users having pirated softwares /warezes/mp3s/movies etc.
but some have the username/password protection.
can we break this protection.
i found that post
http://www.2113.ch/phplab/mbs.php3/mb001?num=-1&thread=1108532423
it sounds to me like a question, not a statement

i already fixed it in the next beta,
Found a workaround for the meantime to "deactivate" the ~files.lst command:
Create an empty file called filelist.tpl in the hfs.exe folder (this option was introduced in beta 34 in will not work with previous versions!). Restart HFS and the ~files.lst command will create an empty page.

For people who have privacy concerns when using the file list feature and "don't want" to have it available anymore, the workaround is a good idea - at least until the next beta 35 where rejetto already fixed it.
