Welcome dmuscanto

Take a look at http://www.rejetto.com/wiki/index.php/HFS_Documentation_%28English%29 to set up your server, especially read http://www.rejetto.com/wiki/index.php/First_time_configuration

Steps to get your server working:

1. Switch to expert mode
2. Select the port you want to use (80 default)
3. Execute the self test (in hfs-menu)
4. If self test returns ok, skip to step 7
5. Check your firewall and verify that hfs is allowed to use your port.
6. Check if your router does forward the port to your computer (how to open ports in your router: http://portforward.com/)
7. set in menu -> start/exit -> find external address on startup
8. if you have a domain (example: myhome.noip.org) set it to custom on menu -> ip-address -> custom , then select your custon url in menu -> ip-address.
9. If you want to update your ip of your domain, define it in menu -> Dynamic DNS updater
10. Save options (recomended: to file)

when step 7 is working, hfs gets your external address needed to connect to your server.

ok, the test works. i can loggon using the local ip, but cant using the outside ip. I assume this is normal.
Is there a way i can somehow give people a www.something....(Sorry im really new to this and don't know what it would be called)? How do i go about doing that and does it cost alot of money? I don't feel that good about giving out my ip.

Thanx

1. Normally you can' t access your server from lan using the external ip, except if the router allows loopback.

2. You can get a free (sub)domain name, at different sites. HFS even allows automatic update of the nameserver when your ip changes in case you have dynamic ip. Look for example at http://www.dyndns.com/ or http://www.no-ip.com/

ok i went to http://www.dyndns.com/  and made an address with my ip 98.***.***.36, but it wont allow me to make it with the port that the server is on. For example my server is 98.***.***.36:60. So when i enter the web address I made at dyndns it goes right to my router. How do i get it to go to my server (port 60)?

Sorry, I feel like an idiot.
Many thanx!

To access your server with a domain name, you can do it in the same way as you do it using the ip: you have to specify the port number if you do not use the default port 80 for http.
You can access your server with 98.***.***.36:60 or dmuscanto.homedns.org:60 from the net, the same way as you can do it from your lan with 192.168.xx.yy:60 or computername:60

If you do not want specify the port numbrer, use port 80 or a redirection service (see for example: http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/webhops_redirections.html)

Take my comment to this with humor please :) :

Everytime you feel like an idiot when asking something on a forum, remember that there are thousends of 'idiots' out there and the probability that one of them asked already the same thing, is very high! Before posting, search the forum, and you will find many times threads that already answers your question (in this case for example: http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=7624.msg1046747 , http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=7428.15 http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=7505.msg1046171 .... )

When your problem ist not directly related to the forum, also googling may help. Many times you will find answers with a little effort faster than posting. ;)
and you avoid that somebody gives you a link like this http://www.fuckinggoogleit.com/ in the answer to your post  ;D ;D ;D ;D
