I'm not good at this stuff. Apache worked fine on wireless but now that my wireless card is messed up I'm on an ethernet cable, but instead of using Apache I want to try this HFS thing. I don't have quite a clue what I"m doing.

I have port 8000 and 80 fowarded by the way.

I'd rather have someone on MSN do remote assistance with me than trust myself.. but I'll try to explain in words.

I can go through this with localhost and typing my computer's IP:8000 but that's about it. I can't go through this through my IP address so obviously dyndns wont work.

I have my ports fowarded like I said.. How about someone do a damn remote assistance because I have no clue at all..

you are trying to make your HFS accessible from other people through the internet?
if yes, start using the "self test" in the menu. It will tell you.

The rejetto error is unusual, probably has nothing to do with people not being able to hit you; also that error sounds like it might be on his side, but you dont need the self test to work properly for people to hit you, so lets establish a few things until he can get that fixed or tell you if its own his side at all.

Generally it really is just as easy as forwarding the port your using HFS on.  Are you sure you did that right?  Either way, if your using NAT your going to have to do a few things.  If you are using nat you might have a modem that can handle DHCP, if so its fairly easy to get forwarding working, but usually thats not the case.

Let use know your router make/model and modem make/model after you confirm with us that you 100% know that you forwarded the port correctly.

I fixed the problem with the self test.
Anyway, it was just an extra line (the one beginning with "warning"), nothing else. It always worked.


final verdict: the port you are trying to use HFS on is NOT forwarded, despite what you think it is.
possible solutions: use HFS on another port that is truly forwarded on the router, or configure your router to forward the desired port.

we had the same problem last days. My friend had all ports well forwarded, but the self test was still negative. Well, it has been that damned Windows Firewall in XP Pro. We disabled it, installed a nice firewall ZoneAlarmPro 7.0.462, that one asked for creating a rule for HFS, we created a rule - and HFS is fine working since
