My question:
Live 2 Local doesn't seem to want to work for me. I have my HFS.exe file in "folderx" and have placed the folder entitled "hfslive" inside the "folderx" folder with it. Now, I closed HFS and my browser, cleared my cache and all that fun stuff and re-launched HFS then accessed it via my browser (latest Firefox version as of now) but when the change server menu pops up it only offers the same 2 servers and my machine is not listed as it says it would be in the readme.
Any help?
My contribution to the project: REGARDING PSP USERS -
I have to say that I read a lot into the psp based forums and did not see much in the way of help, though I understand it's not a Rejetto thing. I had no issues getting it running without downloading anything but what you offer on this website, GREAT WORK ON THIS PROJECT MAN!!
PSP Users: Simple as this:
1. hfs.exe, launch it
2. drag and drop folders you want to be able to access into the virtual file server column
3. Menu - Self Test
4. If your test fails and says you're behind a router, you need to use port forwarding to make this work (see below). If the test passes continue
5. click on open in browser to see what it looks like, that easy.
6. Now enter your address as seen in HFS into your PSP browser.
BEHIND A ROUTER:
If you have problems loading the page and are behind a router, you HAVE TO forward the port to the machine hosting the files.
1. Access your routers config pages by entering your routers ip address into the browsers address bar.
2. Navigate to the section of your config utility that offers port forwarding.
3. Use port forwarding to forward the port you chose(or the default 80) to your main computer (the system running hfs)'s IP address. There is usually a "name" field, enter HFS, then there will be a "ip address" field, this is the ip you want the port forwarded to and should be the machine running HFS. You should also have a port "start" and "end" fields, enter the port number you are using for HFS (80 by default) into both fields, if you only have a single port field, enter only once. Make sure its enabled (usaully a check mark to turn it on in dlink routers) and save and exit your config utility. Now run self test again and you should see it pass.
4. If you are using a modem that is connected to the router and still experience issues, you may need to bridge your modem to the router then forward the port to your PC. Stuff is out there on the net, you'll need your model of modem and need to know the exact firmware on it, then search the internet with that info and the work "bridge" and you should stir up some goodness.
This software is AWESOME and has made me enjoy my PSP even more now. I no longer have to store EVERYTHING on my mem card, I can access any stuff via the web from where ever I am and grab only what I want when I want it. SWEET!
Oh, I also use iTunesRemote to remotely control my iTunes on my computer with my psp. I used HFS to add a url link to itunesremote.php in a directory called "quick links" in my virtual file server. Now when I am hosting a party and a song comes on I don't want to hear, I just use my PSP to change tunes.
For non PSP users, sorry to blab on here, just wanted to give some help to those who need it.
