Hello,

is it possible to install 2 different versions of HFS in different folders and to start one version or the other?

It's real easy to do this.  Just launch one instance of HFS, make sure you are in Expert mode, then select Menu > Start/Exit > and then make sure there is no check next to "only 1 instance".  Make sure you do this for every instance you launch after this.  Then you can have as many instances of HFS running as you want.  The only other thing you need to do is use a different port number for each instance.

My concern ist not how to run several instances of the same HFS-Build at the same time but whether it is possible to install several different versions and run them. I don't know whether HFS makes maybe registry entries which get mixed up, when I install a different build at another local folder.

HFS does not install anything.  It is a self contained executable file.  The only time something would get put in the registry is if you tell it to save the settings to the registry.  I avoid any possible problems with this by saving the settings to a file rather than the registry.  That way each instance of HFS has it's own hfs.ini file in it's own folder.

Ofcourse you can do this.

Just make sure you save all your options to a file, instead of the register. And ofcourse dont use 1 file for both copies of HFS.

menu -> save options -> to file
menu -> save file system...

That should do it.

you may even have 1 exe and several ini files
i guess you don't need this, but if you do, look at command line parameters in the documentation

As says forthehandyman, HFS does not add anything to the registry, except if you want to save to registry. That's why you can have hfs with his filesystem on an external drive and  conect it to every PC without instalation (you have only to care for open port and firewall). I had also running different versions for internet and lan at the same time.

It's worth to mention that HFS is what I call a clean program !

Saving every shit to registry is what slows down all window machines with use, and you have to use rcleaners and stuff like that.
your computer has no brain - use your own !
