is it possible to limit the types of files to be uploaded..

No you cannot restrict the filetypes with HFS yet...

You could make a small javascript that passes the url through a check. And if the url doesn't meet the criteria it disables the upload button... but thats about all you can do for that, im not going to pursue this, unless it get requested a few more times.
