Hi everyone,
My computer is behind a router.
I got the HFS 2.1d and everything works fine. I uses an external IP for connection to my friends when I host up my server. But the external IP changes frequently ( everyday, is' natural ). Then I have to check for the external IP and re-host the server everyday. I am wondering if there is any method that can remove this step.
Also, I found that the "Run HFS when Windows starts" option is not working. Does anyone have solution or the same situation?
Cheers,
Jessi.

to combat your ever changing dynamic ip adress, you can use a dynamic dns updater. HFS supports CJB, No-ip and DynDns. if you sign up for one of these you can get a web address such as http://xxx.dyndns.com that HFS updates everyday to point to your ip address.
To use this feature signup for one of the above services then make sure HFS is in epert mode then go
Menu > Dynamic DNS Updater > and which ever one you signed up for and simply enter all of the login info, etc and it should all be working fine.

How about the auto open HFS mode? Do you encounter the same problem?
Thanks a lot

I already registered an account in DYNDNS and chosen a dynamic host. But the domain name seems doesn't work. Why?

is hfs running on port 80? and have you set up HFS to update the dyndns servers by going to

Menu > Dynamic DNS Updater > DynDNS Wizard

and setting all the required fields.

I just recently signed up for dyndns.org and I wonder why the Dynamic DNS Updater doesn't accept my login data. Given the URL <hostname.dyndns.org> I assume <hostname> is the username, password is self-descriptive and domain is <dyndns.org>? I already tried out a link I found somewhere in this forum, to check whether the dynamic IP adress is working properly and it does. I tried using the dyndns-wizard using a random port and also port 80 - nothing works. It just says: "error: invalid user/password" but since I can log in at dyndns.org with the same set of data I'm pretty sure there's another issue at work here...

Your hostname is not necessarily your username.  You only have one username but can associate up to 5 hostnames to it for free.

I know that, but I've tried everything in every thinkable combination - now I have downloaded DNS Updater and installed it as a service (with the same login data I thought were right in the first place). Furthermore there couldn't be some sort of confusion in my case, since I only have one hostname.

I still would very much like to know what could be wrong. Thanks for any answer :-)

it first asks for username, then for password.
then for domain, and it is not "dyndns.org"
