I have a maybe newbie question, i have a DSL line at home that does not have a static IP address, i run HFS and drag and drop my stuff, it workd fine to other PCs connected in the house via the same router. How can i make anyone on the net see my my HFS contents and download them ?

Simply sign up for a dynamic dns, and run an IP updating program... some routers have this feature built in, but the program works very well.

http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/ , there are others but i cannot remember them, this one works fine for most people. They supply the updater program if you require one. It is a simple case of running it in the background, green tick means good, red means a dns error. The program willl run an IP check every few mins, hours or days... i think u can specify.

:D

you don't really need a static address.
to know if HFS works over the internet, use the "self test".

a static address should be reported in your contract.
