Hi Guys,

I'm using HFS for a week now and i think it's a great program but i'm having a little problem. My server is at home and when i am at work i want to listen to my music. So i log in to my server using my username and password, then i (left) click on a mp3 file and i can play it with Winamp or Quick TimePlayer. But when i want to play it with Windows MediaPlayer it's asking me again for my username and password. And every time i want to play another song with Windows MediaPlayer it's asking me again for my username and password. So you probably want to ask me "why not use Winamp or Quick TimePlayer?"  Well, actually at my work they don't like it when people install software so i want to use Windows MediaPlayer.

Maby someone knows what i'm doing wrong?

heinrich.

From what I can see you are doing nothing wrong.  To get access to a password protected system, Media Player asks what your name and password is... which is what it should do and is the expected behavior.  You are doing it one music file at a time which makes every file access from your server to Windows Media Player a new connection.  Therefore, name and passworld is asked for every time.

However, to avoid having to put your name and password in for every music file you want to play in Windows Media Player.....

1. Create a m3u playlist of all the music that you want to play at work.

2. Add this m3u file to the HFS Virtual File System.

3. Copy the link (url) to this m3u file from your server page.   Select File/Open Url in Windows Media Player and put in the link you got from HFS.  You will be asked for your name and password but only ONCE for all of the music you included in your playlist(s).

Hope this helps you.

I get this too.

Simple solution.

First time WMP opens up, log in, then don't close WMP just minimize it. Next time you click a song you wont have to log in.
