HFS ~ HTTP File Server / Self Test failure

HFS worked beautifully for years, however lately the Self Test fails, and friends are unable to connect. Windows XP Firewall has HFS as exception TCP port 50005, and D-Link Router has always had the same TCP port forwarded.  I'm baffled     any help would be appreciated.
