HTML & templates / Implement video onto html pages

http://videojs.com/

When i first joined this forum, a lot of us here were looking high and low for alternative ways to play video formats other than flv's. With HTML5 everything became pretty easy.

Try this open source video player.

HTML & templates / Re: Video Support in HFS using VLC ready
« on: June 27, 2010, 07:01:08 AM »

i think apache2 and lighty web server have module for h.264 streaming which will allow you to seek ahead in the video file. but i havn't looked into this.

I'm running an ubuntu server with Apache2; using the vlc control scripts i got from somewhere else on html pages (not using HFS).
the avi time issue is not related to vlc or the file codec it's rovulnets (javascript) fault not even the demo's on their page grab the correct avi time of video.
it could either be a mismatch of their scripts with our vlc version, since vlc came out with literally tons(just a guess).
the video scanning is much faster when i play videos off my apache server. I haven't tried loading HFS on ubuntu since im not using a GUI on the server.

Anyone ever tried running HFS on a linux server with no GUI? I've ran it under Wine with Ubuntu Desktop, that works fine but ..not very web server'ish. So, basically anyone tried running Wine + HFS on the terminal?

More Good News...

this is an update..

Not only did I make this happen, but I now have a working js code that provides a skin for the vlc embedded code (meaning, play/pause; progress bar, stop and indicator)

..although i am working on another script to automate the movie urls into the script automatically.

Soon, we will provide rich media without flash...ahh i hate flash so much. Back to AVI files!

there's no logout available at the moment, sorry.
read the FAQ.

Clearing the cache/cookies does this. How about just that on a tpl call? Then back to base or ~url.

I think I may have found a solution. I don't know about you guys but I looked everywhere on this forum for answers regarding the implementation of a media player like VLC into one of the templates, mainly the Rawr Template 1.2 and it seemed like everyone just built their own tlp template for default use. I don't know how to build on a tlp format. so i gave up.but..

Here's my rough draft so far///..VLC for Linux/Windows, can be plugged into Firefox by which any media that is called up using a VLC embedded code on a simple html page could work right off the "New Link" creation on the HSF program. The new link ~ Directed to your HTML page folder that you can load on the drag/drop HSF system - This will load the html code, the emebedded code, and retreive ur movie on ur shared folder at a non-bandwidth harassing rate. Just like streaming.

So yeah, attatched is my proof of concept. (the video is black because PRNTSCRN doesnt capture video output)

I really like the RAWR-Template-0.1.2 It drastically improved the look and feel of HFS.I hope you target more customization because I have a dream that one day we wont be using social sites but we would probably host our own sites. The Shoutbox is real cool too.
