router & port problems / Cannot pass the self-test, help please!
« on: February 22, 2009, 08:52:44 PM »
I follow the procedure to set up the port forwarding, but still
I wont pass the self-test.

The router in my home network is 3COM. According to the steps
listed in portforwarding website, I first set up a static IP address
for my desktop computer, which is connected to internet through
a 3COM router and cable modem ( I use Cox high speed internet).
In the network property configuration, I changed the IP to a static one,

IP address:  192.168.1.127
Subnet:  255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS:    192.168.1.1

When I finished this one and test the internet connection, I can
browse any web sites in internet explorer.

In the router setup step, I log in to the router web page via
http://192.168.1.1
and added the virtual server service according to the instruction.

However, when I went back to HFS and made a self-test, I
cannot pass it. Could anyone tell me what's wrong in my
configuration?

Thanks!
