Good idea! You should make a proposal how to proceed in order to avoid that everybody starts on his own.
For my part it isn't feasible to contribute on all items, but it would be fine to contribute to parts I feel confident on.
You  or someone else could put all this pieces together or finally translate into languages.
Maybe we should start with the old version, add some missing parts piece by piece.
It should be possible to dump even very small parts for further development by other users when they have some time available.
Special thread or the wiki?
Who else? Don't be :->

If you don't find anything interesting there, browse freely through the wiki and see if you miss something.

hfs docs are splitted in 2 sections
- documentation: where ALL things are explained in detail
- tutorials: where to put HOW-TOs, guides that doesn't mean to be complete but to lead the user with easy steps

there is a Community Portal link in the side bar.
since it was not used, i think it is a good idea to use it for keeping a to-do list and such things.

I'm a recently-retired Technical writer (software doc) & I'd happily contribute.
I've only been using HFS for 24 hours so I can't (yet) contribute content, but I can make all the English crisp and correct if anyone wants me to.
I know not everyone wants their stuff edited, but I'm very experienced and very gentle.
I totally accept the ethic of the Wiki, and if my edits were not acceptable to the doc creator, I think their version should rule.

Suggested rewrite of first page
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
 What is it?

HFS is file sharing software which allows you to send and receive files. You can limit this sharing to just a few friends, or be open to the whole world.

HFS is different from classic file sharing because there is no network. HFS is a web server which uses web technology to be more compatible with today's Internet.

Since it is actually a web server, your friends can download files as if they were downloading from a website using a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

HFS lets you share your files.
Most web servers are used to publish a website, but HFS is not designed to do that. You are, however, free to use it in any way you wish, - but at your own risk.

[edit]
Installation

HFS needs no installation. Just put the "hfs.exe" file  in a folder of your choice (perhaps named HFS), and run it.

The first time it runs, you are prompted to see if you wish to integrate it into the context file menu. If you pick "yes", then in Window's Explorer you can simply right-click on a file to add it to HFS (and make it downloadable).
(This option can also be accessed after installation in → other options → shell context menu.)

[edit]
Uninstallation

Use the Uninstall command from the main HFS menu.

[edit]
Basic Instructionsions:

    * Run "HFS.exe".
    * In the resultant window (left-pane), drag&drop the elements to share.
    * Communicate to your friends the address of the item to download.

After you drag&drop the files, the address (ie. the URL) is automatically copied to your Windows clipboard. If you then use the paste command in, say, a chat window, just PASTE to send the address.

Alternatively, if you chose to enable the context menu, just right-click on the file/folder to share, and select "Add to HFS". HFS then automatically runs, shares the item, and copies the URL to your clipboard, ready to be pasted.

The best thing would be you to edit the wiki itself.
Don't ask for confirmation.
If you feel uncomfortable editing the wiki, i will apply the changes for you.
Just tell me.
And thanks for your contribution.

Ok ... well i'll go ahead but I'm worried that people will complain ... but hey, i'm thick-skinned and as I have YOUR permission ...i'll just go ahead.
I was hoping you'd read the "suggested first page" rewrite, and agree it, but OK.

Is it possible to send you a short private email ? (gosh you must be busy!)

sure i read it, and agree. but as i said, feel free to edit.
that's why i installed an open wiki.
few months ago, it was open also to unregistered users, but had too much spam by bots.

and yes, as i said you on another post, you can send me private messages, also via email.
you can find my address here www.rejetto.com/me
