Title: question on nested passwords...
Post by: stevech on August 06, 2011, 04:07:52 PM
Thank you for HFS!
New user, question on nested passwords...
password on "real" root folder works as expected.
In /, I added a real folder. Works fine. Then I put a user/password on that folder.
I'm confused now, since from the browser, I first connect to the server, enter the name/password for the root folder, get display OK. Then I click on the subfolder of root that now has a password. Another user/password challenge pops-up. OK fine. I enter the user/password for the nested folder- fails. I keep guessing at pop-up challenges and eventually I get authenticated.

There's no displayed distinction in the pop-ups as to whether this is the challenge for the root versus the nested folder. So I get confused.

How does this work?

Thanks in advance
steve
