Title: how to ban specific file types
Post by: Clay on January 14, 2011, 07:31:01 PM
Hi,

I was able to upload .exe file and that means I can upload any file even the ones not in MIMI types.

Is there any way to ban a certain file type?

I am using 2.2f on windows xp.

Can't advise on 2.2f, never used it.
If you'd like to try 2.3 build 271 (272 has upload bug)
right click on folder in vfs > Properties > File Mask > Upload Filter Mask.
add \*.exe
This will allow all files upload except exe's

This link from the wiki on file masks works the same for upload mask

Thanks very much.
Could you tell me what file types are dangerous and should be banned?
Please, list the file types that should be banned to allow tp upload.

Thanks very much in advance.

I'd have no idea of a list. More to the point, might be only allowing users
you trust to have access and upload. Or scheduling your virus scanner to
check your upload folder regularly?

me, i personally don't care that much, a harmful program that never runs cannot harm your computer.
of course every case should be weighted.
