Title: HFS constantly freezes up and crashes
Post by: genfunk on July 17, 2010, 12:31:30 PM
Hello

Currently I'm using test build 262 for HFS 2.3 Beta. I am having problems with the server. It runs on a remote computer, but these couple days it constantly freezes up and crashes - I always have to end the process and begin a new one. I do notice my server load is huge... (I serve a lot of files, some 600 GB has been outputed already.) Any advices and tips on fixing this frustrating problem?

The server: http://www.zhencang.net:8080

Thanks!

you should monitor cpu and memory usage to understand more of the problem.
how often does this happen?

Happens about most of the time, except now it's looking fine as I switched back to old version (2.2f)

Hey i just tried the new beta as well and its doing the same for.. but it only does it when i go into a folder that have heaps of files / folders in it ( Trying right now and it goes from 8,456 K to like 38 K ) but seems it doesn't "fully" crash just takes 10 - 25 seconds to load the page where as on 2.2f takes like 1 second if that

Well i guess there is a lot lets see...

28,754 files and 5153  folders but thing is it loads fine in 2.2f as in like 1 second! didn't take to long now like 5 seconds

so it wasn't crashed again since i posted tho... :?

@genfunk
can you see if it's just a matter of waiting, or your case is total freeze?
if your cases are different it would be bad to mix it all up.

@rygrass
is all this stuff in a single folder, or spread in subfolders?
2.3 is not supposed to be 10 times slower, but from your description it's hard to understand what's wrong.
consider i don't know other cases, so it may be rare.
