I am reading about this template editor and how it includes this button and that button. The first time I pressed F6 to edit the template, NotePad opened and since then I have been looking everywhere for this template editor. I assumed it is the HFS file itself, so I tried to change the editor to the HFS executable itself. I got the message 'Install this template?' after pressing F6 again to edit it.
Where is this template editor, and how can I switch from NotePad to the one that is meant to be used?

there's no "template editor" anymore.
indeed the command is "edit".
notepad is open, and you edit the template.
if you have an editor better than notepad (every text editor is better than notepad), you can specify it.
HFS is not a template editor, so you were wrong specifying it as it would.
notepad++ is a good text editor.

OK, thanks. I just thought the 'Help', 'OK', and all the other buttons that whatever editor I read about on the Wiki would be helpful.

that wiki page is about the editor that's in HFS 2.2
i'm currently talking about HFS 2.3

That would make sense then. The latest beta version is what I am using, so I understand now.

I use notepad++, it works great for the templates. The best thing about it is its FREE.... I also use it to edit SQL files. SQL=Database backup files.

@ Havingfun. I assume that is the same thing as NotePad? I use WordPad and sometimes Jarte Plus.

notepad++ is hugely better than notepad.
HFS 2.3 natively uses it as template editor (when it's installed).
wordpad is instead a word processor, not a text editor. They are somewhat different.

So [1] where can I get NotePad++? I've never heard of that. And [2], I thought you said HFS 2.3 uses any editor instead of a native one? If it has a native one, where can I get it?

Thanks, I will check it out.

if notepad++ is installed, hfs will use it, otherwise, it will use the default editor bound to TXT files
