the router is the toy you use to connect your computer to the internet.
this website is what you need: http://portforward.com/routers.htm

i cant seem to do the steps i having error, i do the static ip first and my net could not even starts :(
-
i only had 1 DNS server ip but they wanted me to put alternative DNS how do i complete the static ip steps!
-
sorry i don't understand anything but i think i don't have a router? last time i did
-
the "self test" said you have a router so
1. you have a router
OR
2. you don't have a router yourself, but you are behind a router owned by the company/organization providing you internet connection. They don't give you a public numerical address, and in this case, most of times, you are unable to use any server program, like HFS.
-
oh, so i could not used this program? :(
thanks for reply guys ^_^
-
i cannot say.
it's up to you to discover in which of the two cases you are in.
i cannot imagine more cases, so i suppose you are in case1 or case2.
maybe someone else knows more and will contribute more cases.
-
so how do i check it?
-
ask your internet provider if you get a public IP address
