Title: Export users for new install
Post by: ElGuapo on March 15, 2010, 02:51:49 AM
Hey, I need to install HFS on some new hardware.  Is there anyway that I can recreate the users on the new hardware with manually doing it?  Where doe HFS store it's user info?

yes it's possible.
all of accounts are saved with options
you can 'save options to file',

open hfs.ini and find the lines named 'accounts='

all of accounts are crypted but you can copy and replace this line on the other files hfs.ini (existing accounts will be replaced by the copy)

only accounts are saved , permissions are stored in the vfs, you have to redefine them for each resource of the vfs.

i guess mars' suggestion is overcomplicated for your real needs:
after saving options to file, just move the hfs.ini file to the new computer.
