Hi ,
I am completely new to this forum, so maybe this has been asked several times:
when I try to up- or download a very large file, somewhere around 2 GB or more,
the HFS program seems to fail,
I use the (beta) 2.3 V247 on windows-7 -64 bit uploading/downloading to a windows-XP V247 .
Both computers have NTFS filesystem, so that should support these large files.
Any clues on this matter ?

You are experiencing the size limitation of the browser you are using.
-
I wasn't aware of such a limit;
are there any browsers that can handle these large files ??

Try Firefox, Opera, or a download manager.
-
Firefox can download large files just fine, upload is limited to 2GiB-1.
Opera seems to handle large files completely.
-
I didn't try firefox, but indeed Opera worked OK,
Thanks

Forgot to mention:
Opera (version 10.10) does seem to be much slower in upload transfer-speeds (sustained speed about 130 KB/s compared to internet explorer 2000 KB/s)
, also it is consuming a lot of CPU power compared to IE.
Any ideas what is going on here ?

i don't have a solution, being not an Opera expert, but i can tell you
that (wasted) CPU power is directly connected to the low speed. Indeed, when a software tops the CPU, can't go faster than that.
this mean, with a faster CPU you would upload faster. But this is not meant to justify Opera's problem, and you are not supposed to buy a faster cpu ;) just for your information.

OK, thanks ,
I think I have to go to an Opera forum to solve this issue,
as it really seems to be Opera behaving ineffecient.
Maybe it is some setting in Opera.

I am an Opera user. I will test out a large upload with a friend tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Interesting. My Opera 10 kept freezing when I tried it, but Internet Explorer 8 was able to transfer large files at max speed. I am thinking this might be partially due to the operating system. I am using Windows 7 x64

when i was a Opera user, i always hated that it had a long freeze before uploading a large file.
actually, the freeze is proportionate to the size of the file.
i guess they didn't fix this issue yet....
