Title: HFS and Local DNS Server
Post by: WhereEaglesDare on May 19, 2009, 12:10:26 PM
Hey everyone, great product.  I run a network that has 8-10 clients on it and HFS works great for getting files out there, much faster than the old way.  My server's IP is 192.168.100.20.  So when a client wants to access the files they goto that IP address, but how could I set it up to have a Local Domain such as "server" or "downloads" instead of 192.168.100.20.  I have been reading other "guides" on Local DNS Addressing, but cant figure out the simple solution.

with Windows systems, when you give a computer a name, that name will work on the network.
so, if your PC has name "pluto", you can just type "pluto" instead of the ip.
