Title: Regarding External IP Address
Post by: jshollis on February 26, 2009, 12:44:05 AM
How do you tell HFS to keep using your external IP address?  When I turn my system off the IP it defaults back to a http://169.XXX address.  How do you make an IP default?

Menu > IP adresse > your IP

If you have a fixed IP address, simply, once you have the right settings, you save your settings:

Menu > Save Options > ...to file

*****

If you have an external IP address that often change, you will have to redo your settings every time, or create an account for a dynamic net address (dynamic DNS): [WIKI link] (http://www.rejetto.com/wiki/index.php/HFS_Frequently_Asked_Questions_(english)#Does_HFS_work_with_my_dynamic_net_address_.28dynamic_DNS.29.3F)

So, you will not have to redone each time your settings.

if you have a dynamic external IP, and you don't want to use DNS, you can

menu -> start/exit -> find external address on startup
