Title: Testing build #213
Post by: rejetto on November 08, 2008, 04:08:09 PM
download @ www.dovedove.it/hfs/hfs213.exe

what's new
! Please BACKUP your VFS: this version will convert anyone/any account permissions, and they won't work if you revert to an older build.
* "anyone" permission available again
* wordwrap again, in file properties
* moved "icon" menu to file properties
* "Backup on save" is now ON by default (you are invited doing it on your current configuration)
- "new account" in properties didn't work
- workaround for IE7 that most times will solve the "underscore_instead_of_spaces" problem www.rejetto.com/forum/?topic=6275

the size is normal.
when it's big (2 MB) is because it's a debug version, with extra information for finding bugs.

please reply at least one of these questions
1. does it hang while loading your vfs?
2. can you provide a screenshot?
3. is the CPU overloaded while it's hanged?

not really
2. can you provide a screenshot?

I haven;t install any screen capture software on this computer

3. is the CPU overloaded while it's hanged?

it's not hang when HFS loading, when I use an account to login to, it hangs immediately and the application seems as no response at the moment. CPU workload is around 100

p.s. I need to stop the application from XP work manager task.

You never ever needed a special software for taking screenshots, rogernie.

"On Microsoft Windows, pressing the Print Screen key captures a screenshot of the entire desktop area, and places it in the clipboard. Pressing the combination of Alt-Print Screen captures only the current active window. However, by first pressing Alt, then the hotkey of the dropdown menu you wish to illustrate, you can capture dropdown menu contents. In most versions of Windows, screenshots captured this way do not include the mouse pointer." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenshot)

i tried to log in with an account, and had no problems.
1. try creating a new account. does it hang when you log in with this new one?
2. are you clicking the "login" or a protected folder?
3. are you using the "redirection" feature in the account?
4. menu -> debug -> temporarily reset options
then right click on a folder -> properties -> permissions -> new account
and see if the problem persists

I got the same problem as you describe too, so I change to use the build #212.

Same Problem here. HFS used 99% CPU after i connect to the server over an local ip-adress. After this happens i must kill the task with the taskmanager.

build 213

I confirm there is a problem with this build.

1. cannot connect to server. (tested locally).
2. after I try to connect, taskmanager shows hfs cpu usage of 92% (+/-).  Can't stop hfs cpu usage.
3. cannot exit hfs normally.  Have to kill process using taskmanager.

Yes, I can confirm the problem
A friend tried to log in on my server. I gave him a link directly to a protected folder, but he couldn't even see the page. Nevertheless, I had 100 % CPU usage on my PC.

I confirm same problem as stated by Pit and Maverik.
When trying to conect to hfs (with IP or localhost) hfs window gets blank, hfs hangs, cpuload 98%, need to kill process.

Return in the procedure of origin to by-pass the problem, even if it extends the timeof execution

function idxOf(s:string; a:array of string; isSorted:boolean=FALSE):integer;

Having same problem. Always hangs on new connection. However new connection does not always lead to freeze when main window open.
Temporary resetting options did not help.
May you publish debug version of HFS that I'll be able to provide more detailed information?

no problem pit, i wouldn't use a new published beta on a production server.
my advice, if you really want to use the beta version, is to wait 3-4 days.
such situations will happen from time to time.

That is no problem for me. I like it to test the new features of a new build and your great programm makes it very easy for me with my daily backup quick change to an previous version.
