Title: Folder within a folder?
Post by: Shorn on June 18, 2008, 07:28:25 AM
Hey guys,

Maybe I haven't figured it out yet, but is there a way to add folders within a folder, especially for real folders.
I have a real folder on my hard drive that I added into HFS, but there are specific folders inside that real folder that I want to password protect and enable uploads. Once I added that real folder I could get to the other folders on the website but they don't show up in HFS itself so I cannot set a password or enable uploads.

If this is currently impossible with HFS please add it to the to-do list!
BTW: Thanks for a great piece of software.

you can.
you have a real folder X, with a subfolder Y, but you see only X in HFS, it's correct.
now add manually Y under X, always as real folder, and protect it with password.

for all of you interested in this trick: it's actually a trick.
when you browse X, hfs loads the content from disk, but it will skip every file/folder that has the same name in the virtual file system.
so, if you create under X a virtual folder Y, totally unrelated to the C:\X\Y folder, you'll see only this virtual Y when browsing X.
this is a wanted behaviour, adding some flexibility to virtual folders.
