This first VB app started out as a vbs script that needed a UI and was converted into a HTA project with alot of javascript and a crappy interface.  Its not slowly evolving into a solid app.  This probably won't be updated often but Rejetto wanted the screenshots archived so I figured why not get a log going.

I think it looks nice  ;)

is it meant to do any thing, or is it just a GUI?

right now its tied to active directory functions, self-inserting of users, within OU's, within groups, etc, and it writes system info (pretty much anything) to a log file. it basically does what it was suppose to for my scripting class, but im looking for something else to do with it.

So i'm open to anything, just need an inspired idea.

That's what we should call TRUE reverse engineering! ;)

First create the tool, the program or the object.
After look, if it could be used to realize some task!
At last, analyze how to create the need for such a tool.  ;D

Screw hta and vbs. going to native VB. may need help if people are up for it but its a good learning experience.

Edit:
Richard thanks for convincing me to switch to native VB... it is so much faster to develop a GUI and I already know the coding angle so basically its something I can learn quickly.  Take a look at the new screenshot.

Hmm. more progression, mainly semantics though, didnt show screenshots of menus because thats easy and doesnt matter at this point.  Ideas are still always welcome for a better UI or how i can make it affective to help someone else.

Nice avtar ELEVINNNN. Are you a Tool lover? I sow Tool warm up for Rage Against The Machine at Sentrum Scene in Oslo in 1993 (that is one in a million)  ;D
Nice prog too.- If i could put all my windows admin tools in a dropdownmenu, yea that is nice
And integrate rejetto`s graphic bandwitchmeter, that would be nice
and Some sort of a batchfile runner, that would be super cool

Rock`n`roll

love tool, i just hate it how a lot of tool fans talk about nothing else so i figured id play both cars with the avatar, dunno if you can see it but its a spoof on reflection with a lateralus cover. http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Image:Anti-Tool.jpg is the picture. made some more progress. screenshots attached.

You can see the tabs under the buttons, i didnt feel like taking another screenshot but this wont be in the final product.

And another one, this one is very basic, working on something a little better but worth posting if nothing else for a log of how the project developed over time.

Made more progess, started to look cool. Im taking all screenshots in a debug mode of sorts so you can see the tabs and such, i know this and i dont care, going to work on it some more soon but now i have homework.

@Rejetto - do you want me to put them all (screenshots and text too i suppose) into one post, i'm not trying to spam the boards (at least not too much)

Edit: Added another screenshot.

there's no problem with your posts.
just, all those shots are taking megs of space, and they lose meaning with time, so using an external hoster would have been a nice idea.
never mind.

Screenshots removed, or at least unattached (Rejetto if you need to delete them off the webserver that is just fine)

Old screenshots will be moved to the first post in archived screenshots every now on then to balance the load on the webserver.

Another screenshot, did my own buttons but they arent that good. I left tsg a message since hes good at creating that stuff but if you can help anyone, I just want something blue to dark blue gradient.  something like the buttons on windows media player 11.

Blank buttons i guess. or whatever, something I can modify easily. graphics are not me thing. any suggestion for the GUI of the program, even with a status bar the interface looks pretty empty.

ideas anyone?

if it's empty you can shrink the window

trying to make something worthy though, empty space = not enough stuff, less isnt more for this one, as long as i can keep the organization decent.. anyone got dotnetbar laying around, non trial?

what do you guys recommend for making the menus more stylish

something like the buttons on windows media player 11.

Those buttons can only be created in Maya or 3Dmax or equally prog.  Search for: 3D buttons

Got some new controls from developer libraries and starting a new UI with a ribbon interface.  Going to make it not as confusing as office 2007 but some type of look. i'll post screenshots soon
