Post by: bubotic on February 24, 2008, 09:43:10 AM
Hey, can i have some help with this, a walkthrough for both the no-ip and HFS sides, eg, what settings in no-ip, and do i use my HFS or no-ip account on the wizard in HFS.

first:
you can configure your no-ip without caring about HFS.
there's no special configuration you need for HFS.
so, you can follow instructions provided by no-ip.

second:
you'll find no-ip has an "updater" that keeping sync-ing your IP with your no-ip.
HFS has an internal updater that many people uses to save some memory.
The no-ip updater is better, but it's another program on your computer, and some people like to keep lighter.
How to use it? Just set your no-ip account, and when you are done, click on HFS "no-ip wizard" and input the required info. Nothing else.

sorry i have a small question.

i am running 2 servers on the same machine now my router forwards all the visitors to my site (say eee.mine.nu) which is using a default port 80 to show its content.

the second server i want to host is (say rrr.mine.nu) but i need it to go to another port. like 8080.

is there something in dyndns.org to help me to do the forwarding or any other suggestions.

thanks

Dyndns.org offers a "WebHop" service.  You can setup a WebHop to go to eee.mine.nu:8080.

Even some routers allow automatic update of DDNS. So you have tree possibilities.

My router has that option, but i have not configure that one. What i meant was that ive always belived using both the HFS internal and the Dyndns application was requierd to get Dyndns to work with HFS. It never occurd to me using only the HFS internal DNS updater was enuff to get it to work.
