only some suggestions:

1.) there are 4 (hidden) files "Thumbs.db" in your archive that causes the file to be 181.433 Bytes instead of 137.722 Bytes without Thumbs.db. normally it's not neccessary to ship them with the archive, cause if you need them, your explorer creates them itself, but if you dont need them ... sorry for being an nit-picker =/

2.) what i never understand:
the - and + to maximize and minimize a column:
why is the symbol in the main column a minus? all other minus symbols minimize the column they belong to so the one in the main column suggests me that it would minimize this column if i click on it, but it maximizes the column it belongs to?!?

3.) the padlock.gif could be a little bit more vissible

4.) change +file+ to +escape(file)+ in line 107 of the rawr_previewbox.js

5.) found out that avi-files with restricted access dont play in divx-player? is this a feature of the divx web player?

6.) a little bit bigger icons would be good - not that big like in terayon, but i dont get this line to modify:
<div style="background:url('/~img_folder') center center no-repeat"> with width:32px or something like that

7.) the clickable folder path under the header picture could be a little bit bigger - if i have a folder with only one or two letters and a 12,1'' display with 1280x800px it's a little bit difficult to click it.

8.) the corners of all images (download, goto, etc) could be with rounded corners

9.) i would wish that the dark one would be more dark (shiny black?!?)

10.) how to add the shoutbox? or add the autoplaying? doesnt understand the things in the rawr_main.js

never the less it's a great template! lot of functions and also really good visual style!!! :-)

1. Sorry i forgot to delete them.
2. I'm lazy.
3. No it's the way i like it.
4. Why it is fine?
5. Its a web player problem.
6. No i am using hfs default ones, wait until hfs supports more icon sizes.
7. No I like it small. The bigger it is the less i can fit on one line.
8. No they aren't images. And I like them that way.
9. No. I am sick of black templates and themes. I would have called it black if it was black. I have allowed theme creation for this template which no one seems to be using.
10. I am going to make a better method for the shoutbox, wait for next build. It auto plays already. You don't need to understand the js it wasn't made for users to understand.
11. Stop complaining and enjoy the template ffs.

it shouldn't be complains, only some ideas that can be refused. i'm not unhappy with your template.

to 4.) from my tests here --> http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=5300.msg1030555#msg1030555 i sould know, that it should work without encoding non-ascii-chars, but it doesnt work with a path with a %

i got the best results with +encodeURI(unescape(file))+ & Encode non-ASCII-characters off

I agree, I also find this confusing.

never the less it's a great template! lot of functions and also really good visual style!!! :-)

No doubt! TSG and Giant Eagle have been producing several great templates.

It does that because the code that runs actually hides the column. So i run the hide part of the script i made which changes it to a +. I can probably change it.

Tomorrow evening if I am not busy and 175 is released i will work hard to get a release of 0.0.3 out for the weekend. I need to redo my variables and complete the formatting, and convert the syntax :) then it will be ready for the next build which will have easier shoutbox installation, i'm still using the www.myshoutbox.com one. Macro as no nice solution yet. All i need is the ability to save the messages to file to achieve the simplest of shoutbox.

The next build will also have language files for easy translation of the template, I will post instructions for doing so and submission details in the 'Other languages...' board. So far i have gotten translations of older builds, but I do not understand them so it will be better if people can submit translated language files. Take care when translating to ensure that your language strings don't effect the templates appearance.

The one thing that cannot be translated is the check update feature. This is only visible to people within your network and to the host, no user can see this, so the template would appear in the native language.

Maybe later this can be on a switch that can auto-detect the browser language from the browser header, but not until i get a whole library of translation files :)

I will try and fix the filelist hide/show button to be the opposite.

Also where are my user themes :D? I am waiting to see what people can come up with! I am interested in video, music, picture, pron, anime, sci-fi anything!! Making a theme is very simple all you need to do is change the images and color values, just copy a rawr_theme folder to get started! The folders for user themes are named user_themeName :) get creative!

Anyway thats my update, time for some sleep.

only a first try for a darker theme.

and yes it is really easy, it only takes me 5 minutes or something like that.

It's a good start but you named it wrong. First of all the naming scheme for user themes goes as follows. user_themeName. So yours would be user_darker. Its a good start. I will fix the zip file for you.

Hi,

at the moment my root is restricted and I want only registered users to see anything of my HFS.
When I  use the default template and any unregistred user calls my HFS, is not able to log in, this is all he gets to see:

Unauthorized
This is a protected resource.
Your username/password doesn't match.
HttpFileServer 2.3 beta
25.01.2008 12:32:18

when he interrupts the login-process. This is as it should be.

When I use RAWR-Template the unauthorized user can see

Unauthorized
This is a protected resource, your username/password cannot be verified.

and a lot of other things:

Statistics
breadcrumbs
Back-Button
Powered by ...
Server Error

I don't want that any unauthorized user can see this. What ist to change?

Greetings
parade

Edit the [error-page] section, make a note of the changes, I am going to release a new build as soon as the new syntax is sorted.

if you edit my file name, you also have to edit the css files to change rawr_darker to user_darker :p
Title: Re: RAWR-Template-0.0.1 BETA
Post by: TSG on January 25, 2008, 06:39:27 PM
Ye sorry, I forgot lol.

Can someone please explain to me how to import my language files using the new load thing, cause I cannot get it to work. I need to figure that out before release. I am also waiting for the new syntax to be released in a build, then i will release 3.0.0.

One final thing, i am trying to make an if from a string var... it goes as follows.
{{if|{{ {{!box-id}} > 1 }} | Show the Shoutbox. }} The box-id is always a number, so i figure if i make a check to see if the number is there i can have the shoutbox hidden until the user has a box-id. But it doesn't seem to work for me.
Title: Re: RAWR-Template-0.0.1 BETA
Post by: Unknown8063 on January 25, 2008, 07:14:45 PM
Can you check for string length instead (a number has a length greater than 0) - unless you are initializing the box-id to 0 that should work
Title: Re: RAWR-Template-0.0.1 BETA
Post by: TSG on January 26, 2008, 04:42:53 PM
AHA! yes i forgot about that one. I have it working. I assume all www.myshoutbox.com box-id's are 6 digits. So i have done this.

{{if|{{{{length|{{!box-id}}}}>5}}| Shoutbox Code }}

All you have to do is enter your box id under the theme variable in the [special:strings] section and the shoutbox should be set up and ready to go  :D

Side note, can't wait for the new syntax, my macros will be so much easier to see.

Language files are now importing, it is bugged tho on other pages other than the main atm.

New theme, rawr_black! I got bored on my Australia Day evening :D People wanted a black theme, so here it is!
(Packaged with 3.0.0 which is in bug testing)

That black template is quite nice! In an earlier post you were talking about hiding the shoutbox area until the user put an ID number into the code, I think that is a great idea; you should also impliment this into the update procedure. Just make the box hidden and when ever the template is access from localhost/127.0.0.1 get it to check for updates, if there are no updates then nothing happens, if there are updates make the update box appear in the same area it is in now and tell the user there is an update available.

I'm not sure about whether or not it is possible, but it would be a nice feature to have.

Title: Re: RAWR-Template-0.0.1 BETA
Post by: TSG on January 27, 2008, 04:57:28 AM
Metal what you are saying is a little over the top, It requires the template to check with our server every time you open a page in localhost. The check updates only appears for the internal network with a macro since 0.0.1.

I added something to the background to enhance it. It is a pity the HFS icons are a bit on the off side, cause all my operating system icons and application icons look perfect. rejetto, what are these icons, are they hosted in windows, or are they embedded in HFS, if they are embedded in HFS, you could probably clean them up with an image editor? If you can clean them up i'll help with it.

i tried to find these icons in hfs.exe with resource hacker, but they seems to be somewhere else, but i also tried to find them in vista's shell32.dll, but there are - like in the explorer - only these vista-like plumb folder icons:
(http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/895c0fv/thumb/vistafolder32.png) (http://img3.imagebanana.com/view/895c0fv/vistafolder32.png)

best thing would be something like:
~img_folder_1 for  8bit, 16x16pxl
~img_folder_2 for 16bit, 16x16pxl
~img_folder_3 for 32bit, 16x16pxl
~img_folder_4 for 16bit, 32x32pxl
~img_folder_4 for 32bit, 32x32pxl
etc. but maybe this is too difficult.

Ye I really wish to upgrade the icon system of HFS but i don't know where hfs is sourcing them from, in linux none of them exist, so they are obviously coming from the OS. I am really trying to avoid making an icon library for the template in each theme, cause its a pain in the ass. If the icons weren't so jagged with the white pixels and were normal like the application icons it would be fine. I often wonder why it would be so hard to have different sizes of icons, cause a .ico file contains all the different sizes, would just be a matter of figuring out how to get HFS to trigger the right resolution icon.

Just thought I would post an update before I sleep tonight. So far we have successful English(default), German, French, Dutch and Italian language translations set up with the language file system. I am after Russian, Spanish and Chinese translations. Someone did Chinese and Spanish for previous builds, if you are interested just got to http://www.rejetto.com/forum/index.php?topic=5524.30 and post your discussion.

The black theme is being tweaked for the ultimate effect, theme creators I would not use black a base for your theme, unless you know some css.

I have decided that theme creators can do whatever they like within the theme folder, simply restricted to images and css. Please don't kill the overall effect of the template, the theme wont be chosen if you do ;) One final thing, rawr_blue can also be accessed through rawr_default, I made this for no particular reason, other than simply to provide the terminology for someone seeking the default theme.

What else... thats about it really. I will not release 0.0.3 till the new macro syntax is released, and the special:strings file loading is working with all page sections. So probably next HFS build.

I would like Russian, Spanish and Chinese translations (or any other) before i release. I only know one Russian person that does translations 'Comrade Elisey' but he disappeared after I helped him translate a program.... I have sent emails to possible spanish and chinese translators.

Goodnight.

Don't translate it now because i might have a few more strings to add cause we have come up with a successful shoutbox, this is for 0.0.3.
Title: Re: RAWR-Template-0.0.1 BETA

I have successfully made a shoutbox and update module using macro. Yes this means I need a couple more strings translated, I will post them in the translation post once i am sure these are the ones we need.

The shoutbox is made using a diff template in a folder and macro. Basically the files instead of being shown as links are actually loaded, this produces a shoutbox with the folder being the database, each file(post) is named by the poster and a timestamp.

It is the best we can do with hfs and macro for now and i think it works quite nicely :) An administrator account must be set to delete posts, i might change this so that there is an option for any logged account to delete posts. There is one bug with this, HFS can't use a diff template for a sub real folder (below the hosted directory) so i'll have to wait until this bug is squished to release the build.
I have even included 10-12 emoticons.

The update module works using a simple load of a file from our server that has a variable in it. This might be updated to a php database system but the way it works now is easy enough for me.

This now means users that disable javascript can check for updates and the shoutbox is ready to roll once you install the template :D

Here is a screenshot of both features in action.
