Title: "date" display for url links ?
Post by: TCube on November 24, 2007, 08:47:49 AM
Salut à tous !

I’m wondering if it's  possible to show « date » within a link display. Right now, I’m doing it the way below.

I really think that would be helpfull as sometimes users/admin. have to remember “day one” when these files are hosted on an external server.

What do U think ?
merci

The date displayed with files and folders is that one that is retrieved from de (DOS)-directory infromation, when the element was created or modified. Links are not on disk, so their creation date can not be retrieved.

But you have a workaround to solve your problem: use the comment field when adding your folder and set there the expiration date.

You have then different possibilities, depending of your needs, if you want the visitors show the expiration date or not:
- if users may see expiration date , let them see the comment, that's all
- if visitors should not see the comment:

... if you do someting like that, it's only to you to ask rejetto for a 'search by comment' feature ....  ;) :D

I don't understand what you want.
The date without the time?

Ok thanks for the workarounds !

We had a talk about it and came to this : as we can rename file after upload to our various 10go space - our bunch decided to start with [xx-xx-xx] being the date due and not the date uploaded.

I receive all links automatically throught mail then populate Hfs.

@ bacter : I'll try to grasp your advice about "comment" and macros [not using #145 - stuck on built #143]  Immediatly, the way above enables us easily to sort links throught Hfs at first by "expiring dates".

Mars thanks ...
I don't get it : it's hardcore coding U're talking about  ;D . The ideal situation would be to get the last time downloaded/hit - add 30 days - and do a report - as in fact,  a file is still living up 30 days after the last dl [in my mind, all links being put in a specific directory anyway ... reserved for the same Isp users due to Isp dl speed filtering  ::)]

keeping the date of the last "access" to a file/folder may be an interesting feature.
it's in the to-do-list now.

Salut,

I moved my Html request to the right section.
