Title: Search not working for subfolders...
Post by: ladiko on November 23, 2007, 12:24:20 AM
- search was not compatible with other filters configured in the VFS www.rejetto.com/forum/?topic=5208.msg1029775#msg1029775
are there any plans for a recursive search in all subfolders?

ladiko, thats exactly how recursive works lol. If it isn't working then you haven't got "Enable recursive listing" switched on.

hfs will only search in the folders that you have access to, so if you search and are not logged in with a user that has access to that folder you will get no results.

i've logged in to the folder
%host%/protected-folder/
and immediately used the search box in this folder for example with blubb and it "direct" me to
%host%/search=blubb
and the search result is empty. if i change the url to
%host%/protected-folder/?search=blubb
it's showing me the relevant files without re-entering the password. and it also shows me my login-name as current logged in user.

maybe i should start a separate topic? :-)

I think it has to do with how your browser remebers authentication, your browser see's that you are going back to the root and because you could access the root folder with either no password or a different password before it uses that and not the one you used to access the restricted folder.

to see if my theory is right
close your browser to clear any cached passwords/users.
goto your hfs and log into the root folder with the user/pass required to access the restricted folder.
then goto the restricted folder and try the search.
then post if it worked or not.

Dont worrry about starting a seperate topic, I'll ask TSG to move these posts into its own topic.

yes that's the problem. the root isn't password protected and i can see that he access the root without a user/pwd if i use the search. i can confirm this behaviour for firefox 2.0.0.9 and Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13. so it is not related to hfs, but i think i can live with that small problem.

thank you so much Foggy :-)

and thank you rejetto for http file server!
and thanks to the community that is very helpful!!!

yes, such behaviour by browsers is well known. :(
you can, anyway, try to force the login when you access the root and see you are not logged in anymore.
this problem will disappear in the future, when we'll use cookies for authentication.
