Title: not working after restore from backup!
Post by: jake59 on November 15, 2007, 02:31:24 AM
Howdy: I had a problem and then restored the drive from a backup. Now HFS doesn't work. I have ip traffic monitor running and it shows hits on port 81 which is correct but they aren't getting through.

I think it must be a w2k file that was not backed up because it was a hidden file or something.

Same with my apache webserver, it is getting hits but nothing getting through.

Anybody got any ideas?

Nope, it isn't working by either method.

I am also having a potential problem with deleting some files and installing a program. Makes me wonder if it isn't in the permissions or policies.

Just a guess: NTFS permissions gone wrong? Believe me, speaking from experience.

After switching out all of the NICs, switches and routers the only thing left was the dsl modem. I replaced that today and I still had the problem!

Upon calling isp tech support it was suggested I do a traceroute. after doing a traceroute to my domain and to a known other good website I was able to see it was dying at an ip address.

It turns out it is my isp. They are checking into it. My guess is that they made either a software or hardware change during the last 2 weeks that does not allow 2 ip addresses for the same mac address of the modem.
