Title: NT4 and HFS version above 2.1d-b88
Post by: DonPedro on September 09, 2007, 07:08:17 PM
hello,

I just tried to update to version 2.2a, but unfortunately the programm fails to start, because an error message comes up.

something has changed between the two versions that obviously makes hfs incompatible with nt4. can this be solved by the author of hfs? I hope this is just a matter of how the source-code is compiled ....

the error-message is as follows (translated from german):

"the dynamic link library MSIMG32.DLL could not be found in the <path> ....."

can you try NOW to run 2.2 and see if it starts?
can't you just install that DLL ? try searching MSIMG32.DLL NT4 on google

hello,

thank you for the quick answer.

I downloaded again. this time the error-message is saying that it can't find the procedure "GdiGradientFill" in the "GDI32.dll".

I have found a forum for delphi-developpers where a programmer asked about the same problem. he says that it might be because of the usage of the delphi-component "TToolBar". I guess you did not use that with versions before 2.2, did you?

anyway, some people answered that the msimsg32.dll taken from a win98 system helps. the programmer did so as suggested and reported success! :)

I will try to locate the win98-file tomorrow and will report back how it went.

good night for now

SUCCESS

I was able to download the win-98 version of msimg32.dll, put it in the system32 directory and hfs 2.2a works without a hitch.

I have also learned that beside of using the TToolBar element the problem also occurs if a programmer uses transparency (images or alike).

anyway, thank you for the quick support!

Next time, please use the search function of the forum. You'd have found that thread:

There's even a working msimg32.dll attached to my last post. Maybe rejetto or a mod could stick it please.

we cannot have a sticky post for every FAQ.
we should include this thing in the FAQs page, or we may create a FAQ forum.
the first is cleaner, the second would have a broader audiance.  :-\

Well it is a complete 'Question -> answer -> solution' screnario, so it would prevent further questions on that subject.

The problem is not the information itself, but people actually too lazy to read or use the forum search function before posting questions.

yes, but there are tens of topics that should be sticky.
they would bury the new topics.

I think that a FAQ forum would be the best way to do it and it would also lessen the number of stickies there are currently.
