If HFS Beta Testers use the update utility to update their Betas.
I think when HFS updates, it should backup the old HFS build, to something like, hfs.old.exe... maybe it could use the online database w/e works best...
And if the new build has bugs when it installs, all they have to do is hit something like 'Revert HFS Build' option in the 'Updates' menu and they have their old build back....
Anyone else think this is a good idea?

yes... not bad
it makes sense with a software releasing a couple of builds /week :D
-
I think it is a great idea because if we have any new builds that have bugs like #129 did, we can easily revert back.
-
or 130 lol, that lasted what, less than one day? Regardless, unique idea, definitly worth looking into.

we are talking about a feature to revert.
did you have the need to revert from build #130 ?

yes, but how often does it happen? 3-4 months?
-
I don't think its a matter of how often a bug occurs...
Its more of a safety feature...
its like saying, 'why does my car need airbags? when I've never had a crash?', or, 'why do i keep a system restore point? when my pc never crashes?'
the whole idea of the auto-update feature is to ease the updating process... so doesn't it make sense to ease the reverting process, if a bug occurs?
Cause at the moment you have to, locate the build on the forum, download it, then rename it *optional i guess*, close HFS, delete or overwrite hfs.exe, then execute.
Admit it, it is much easier just to hit a revert build button? to keep that ease of use...

it's not a restore point. it's not safe. it's just easier. airbags are not easier.

It was a vague generalisation of my point. :P Airbags make avoiding death a little easier i guess...
-
yes, and food is an easy way to not die by starvation
-
I suppose I can just keep doing what I always do if i need to go back a build.
Just go to my folder with old builds and pick the one I want or redownload it ;)
-
i already said it makes sense.
i'm just saying it's not that pressing. ;)

Ahh, I thought we were fighting a losing battle :P
and may I also point out that although airbags may save your life, chances are they will brake your nose ;D
