Title: operating dyndns service when behind a router

is it possible at all, and how ?
(the router supports uPnP )

it should be all fine aslong as the port that HFS is set to run on is forwarded to your machine in the router

of course you can
go on http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
choose your router, then HFS

Menu -:> IP Address -:> and make your selection.  ::)

I meant how does HFS "knows" what exteranl IP to report to dyndns, in case it changes dynamically ?

HFS checks every so often with with some sites on the net that tell it your ip. so when your ip dynamically changes it will detect your new ip when it checks and then update dyndns :D
