Hello. I've been searching a LOT for this on the forums but I just can't seem to understand the problem... I've done everything that needs to be done on my Router, I've forwarded the HFS port, I've added the DynDNS entries to the hostsfile on both the PCs on my line AND I CAN send files to people from my public IP but when I access my DynDNS site (http://donblur.dnsalias.com) it takes me to the router config page. Shouldn't it be redirecting to the HFS file INDEX?
I hope someone can lend a hand...

no, it's perfectly normal, and you don't need to edit file hosts, it's useless.
just use "localhost" when you browse yourself.
use the self test when you need to know if HFS works.
that's all.

Oh, right, I see... I'd used LOCALHOST to browse my own files before setting up the whole DynDNS deal... My friends tell me they can't access the page... Shouldn't it direct them to HFS's index or something like that?
Basically I'd like to know how to make it so that whenever people access http://donblur.dnsalias.com, the HFS root directory shows up, is this possible?

that's what it is supposed to do.
use the "self test" to be sure you have no problem.

Neither, nor. HFS can do this by itself. You need Kana only if you want to use other services as well, like FTP or Apache.

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. The self-test shows no problems at all but my friends still can't access my site... I'm going crazy here because I JUST can't figure out what's wrong... Has anyone tried accessing http://donblur.dnsalias.com? Could you please tell me what error it shows?
As I mentioned a couple of times, file transfers aren't a problem so what about my DynDNS address redirecting to HFS's root dir?

Could not connect to remote server.

Re-check your DynDNS setup for dnsalias.com. Your problem appears to be there.

the problem is in the URL you are giving
is your HFS working on port 80?

HFS was on port 83 and now that I've changed it, people get to the right place. Great! But isn't having HFS on port 80 bad in any way as it's the same port as the web server it something like that? Is there any difference at all? I hear some people have trouble accessing HFS on :80 or am I confused or something?

As long as there is no other web server running on YOUR computer, port 80 is just fine.
Port 80 is the default HTTP service port (it can be omitted from URLs and IPs for this reason), and always on the server side. If you're browsing the web, your port 80 is not used at all.

HFS was on port 83
you was giving this address http://donblur.dnsalias.com/
while yours was http://donblur.dnsalias.com:83/
that's your problem
