Title: [1] inserted in filename when downloading a file
Post by: DavidNL on February 21, 2007, 10:31:49 AM
Hi,
The files i'm downloading with HFS have have names like this: "Application 1.2.exe", "Application 1.3.exe" etc.

My problem is, when the clients download the files, Internet Explorer saves the files as "Application 1[1].2.exe".
In my case, its important that the files keep exactly the same name....

Any1 got an idea how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Regards,
David

It could be because you already have a file called "Application 1.2.exe" on your hard drive.. For as far as i know, FireFox automatically renames downloaded files so that they dont overwrite existing files.

Other than that, i dont know what could cause this problem

The problem is, IE regards all characters after the first dot as extension. That means, all files you mentioned have the same name, "Application 1" . Replace every dot except the last with another character, it should solve the problem.
