Title: Updates - Auto Check
Post by: maverick on November 30, 2006, 07:16:17 PM
v2.1b build 063

Updates - auto check everyday

It doesn't remember the OFF setting (no checkmark).  It turns itself back on when you reload HFS.  I manually check for updates when I feel the time is right for me.  Please fix.  Also, I suspect that it updates more than just once a day.  From time to time I notice a quick flash in the middle of my screen which I'm almost sure has to do with this update feature or something else from HFS as it started with build 063.  Why not include a log entry when an update request takes place so we know.

When my hfs updated, and i accepted it, the update feature seemed to glitch, i dont know why, but it fully downloaded the new file, it just got stuck somehow, so i did it again... to no avail, so i used the Windows Search feature and it found the new files, so it seems those parts of the update process work fine, but the execution of the new build failed, it actually fully locked up any HFS executions. So i deleted all evidence of hfs on my pc, (except the file system and userdata) and downloaded it manually. then viola it works fine.

EDIT: i think it might have been my firewall preventing the execution of the new build after downloading. but i am still unsure, is anyone else having this problem?

Update from 2.1b build 064 to build 065 - FAILED for me.  I got the attached error message.  Had to manually update.  Are you going to make a changelog for this build so we know what was changed?

made.
anyway, i don't think this problem has nothing to do with last changes.
must be something that happens sometimes.

a tip for all of you making screenshots: standard dialogs can be copied as text by just using CTRL+C (then you paste on the forum)

it is much faster and easier than screengrabbing

I had a strange error, but i dont know if it even was an error, the hfs did an auto update and invited me to download build 065, when i was already using 065 already lol.

I will download 066 momentarily...

Hi
first - i have a poor english  :-\

I have a related problem like That_Stevens_Guy.

I have installed v2.1 build 080.
The autoupdater load the newest builds - fine. An then, when i restart my  server manual (nothing to do with hfs update), the hfs are again build 080 an says to me, an newer version are avaiable. I can reproduce it.

I think i know why.
HFS is in the autorun in windows (show with "msconfig on commandline) , an the exe calls "hfs080.exe". HFS dont fit the exe name when a new build is downloaded.

Can you fix it rejetto ?

ok but... what do you expect it to do?
to replace your hfs080.exe with build 082 named hfs080.exe ? it doesn't seem a good thing to me.

these are testing builds, the name is only for tests, you may/should rename them to hfs.exe

No, don't rename the exe file. But rename after the upüdate the exe in the autorun to hfs.exe.
